Contour Chromatic composer Robert Sword has finished work on his latest composition, 'Split', which was commissioned by Sinfonia Newydd, a Wales-based organisation supporting and promoting the work of young composers who live, study or studied in Wales. The piece will receive its premiere on Thursday 12th February at 1PM in a concert at the Turner House Gallery, Penarth.
'Split' is inspired by the Icelandic performance artist Ragnar Kjartansson's Artes Mundi 6 nominated installation, The Visitors. A studio recording of Rob's piece will be available to listen to soon after the concert.
Robert Sword and Giles Thomas have recently provided original music to Beijing Eye for their video series about Land Rover's philanthropic work in rural China. Land Rover have been working with medical organisations who provide a free health service to children with eye problems and Yung Chang's videos outline this work using a variety of personal stories.
